Djangoism formed 9 years ago after Shez & Simon were inspired at a concert by Martin Taylor’s Spirit of Django. Since then we have dug back in time and through many recordings and concerts exploring gypsy jazz. Currently our favourite performers are Angelo Debarre, Bireli Lagrene and Tchavolo Schmitt but we always go back to Django for our main source of inspiration.
Djangoism have performed at many jazz festivals including those at Birmingham, Edale, Marsden, Sheffield and Wigan. We have also played at many other prestigious venues including Chatsworth House, the Pomegranate Theatre, and lots of jazz clubs (including an Arts Council sponsored tour of Norfolk).
