Djangoism play the music that was started by Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli in the 1930s with the Hot Club de France and has then developed through various routes to become generally known as ‘gypsy jazz’. We play many of the original tunes composed by Django, some jazz standards (by composers such as Cole Porter and George Gershwin), as well as few that we have written ourselves.
Our debut CD was recorded in 1999 at Yellow Arch Studio, Sheffield. CD copies have now sold out but you can still buy the music through iTunes. The tracks are Minor Swing, Daphne, Dark Eyes, Nuages, It Don’t Mean a Thing If It Ain’t Got That Swing, Undecided, Sweet Georgia Brown and Limehouse Blues.
Live at the Arch, our second CD, was recorded with an invited audience at Yellow Arch Studio, Sheffield. This gives all the excitement of a live Djangoism gig with studio quality sound.
